FAQ
1. How does ClearCalcs work?
ClearCalcs is built on the principle that math is easier to maintain and check than code. Built on a robust math engine, every engineering calculation in the system is entered as math, not code. This means we can display the math in formatted formulas, but more importantly, that the math you're seeing is exactly what's happening. There's no hidden code in the background - if it looks wrong, it is wrong. This means you can spend less time worrying about where numbers are coming from and instead quickly produce designs you can easily check and trust.
2. What does ClearCalcs work on?
ClearCalcs will work on almost any internet connected computer, tablet, or mobile. This includes Apple Macbooks and iPhones. The best part about ClearCalcs being cloud based is all you need to do is go to ClearCalcs.com and login (no install needed!) and all of your work will be instantly available.
3. How to share projects with colleagues
ClearCalcs makes it easy to share and find projects with other users in your account.
To search for other user's projects, make sure they are a part of your company account, navigate to the project home screen, and untick the 'Show only my projects' toggle - this will display every project in your organisation. From there, you can easily use the search bar to find the project you need. If you copy another user's project, it will show up in your project list moving forward as you are the new owner of the copy.
Alternately, you can also copy and paste the project or calculation page URL from your browser's address bar and send it to your colleague. Once they log in, it will take them to the page.
4. What if I have questions about my calculations?*
With our team across Australia and North America, at ClearCalcs we offer an expanded 6-day-a-week structural expert support for all ClearCalcs users. When you submit a support request directly within ClearCalcs app or email us at help@clearcalcs.com, you can be sure to receive a reply from one of our engineers to help you use ClearCalcs better.
*Please be aware that ClearCalcs does not offer engineering advice and cannot assist with individual projects. Nothing stated in the email should be taken as advice, recommendations, or instructions for any engineering designs.
5. How Does ClearCalcs measure utilization or adequacy of a design?
At ClearCalcs, we're aiming to make engineering designs accessible to every engineer, and so we've chosen to standardize our entire platform around only one way of expressing the utilization: the demand to capacity ratio. We divide the demand by the capacity, and display this result as a color-coded percentage. Read more...
